Markets are efficient, at least on a micro basis. You will not beat the market. The number of true market beaters in the modern history of investing is very, very small. When analyzed with basic principles of microeconomics many of the concepts and techniques of investing and money management, including diversification, risk measurement, compounding, dollar-cost averaging, technical analysis, etc., etc., etc., can be rendered nonsensical.
